In the vast and beautiful expanse of North-West Western Australia, our dedicated Education Specialist and Business Development Executive Jason Bertelsen, is on a mission. His journey to remote and regional schools is not just about travel; it’s about making a significant impact on the education landscape by simply being there in person to review and assess each school’s ICT requirements.
Jason’s route is taking him through some of the most isolated and picturesque parts of Australia. From the rugged coastlines to the expansive outback, each school he visits presents unique challenges and opportunities. His goal is to ensure that every student, regardless of their location, has access to the technology and resources they need to succeed.
At each school, Jason engages with teachers, administrators, and students to understand their specific ICT needs. He conducts thorough assessments, looking at existing infrastructure, internet connectivity, and the availability of digital learning tools. His approach is holistic, considering not just the hardware and software, but also the training and support required to make the most of these resources.
Tailored Solutions with Integrated ICT Products
One of the key aspects of Jason’s work is providing tailored solutions. He recognises that a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work in such diverse settings. Here are some of the products and services he recommends:
- Interactive Touchscreens and Displays: These tools transform traditional classrooms into dynamic learning environments, making lessons more engaging and interactive.
- Laptops and iPads: Providing students with reliable and affordable devices ensures they have access to digital learning resources both in and out of the classroom.
- Network Infrastructure: Upgrading network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi solutions, ensures that schools have fast and reliable internet connectivity, essential for modern education.
- Tier 3 backup: Protection for critical content that falls outside of the Department of Education WA service provision.
- Professional Development: Offering training programs for teachers to effectively integrate technology into their teaching practices, enhancing their skills and confidence.
Jason’s visits are also about building relationships. He spends time listening to the concerns and aspirations of the school communities. By fostering trust and collaboration, he ensures that the solutions he proposes are sustainable and supported by the entire school community.
The impact of Jason’s work is already being felt. Schools that may have struggled with outdated technology and limited connectivity are now seeing improvements in their ICT infrastructure. Students are gaining access to new learning opportunities, and teachers are better equipped to integrate technology into their classrooms.
As a DOE Panel Integrator, we’re committed to supporting digital growth in schools. Jason’s work is a testament to Integrated ICT’s dedication to ensuring that every student has the tools they need to thrive in a digital world.
So far Jason has travelled almost 3000kms and will complete over 2000kms more before he returns to our Geraldton office. Stay tuned for stories of ICT transformation from the schools he visits.
