According to Microsoft, a Modern Work Solutions Partner demonstrates a broad capability to help customers boost productivity and enable hybrid work using Microsoft 365. Partners must meet strict criteria across performance, technical skilling, and customer success outcomes to earn and maintain this designation.
What capabilities does Modern Work cover?
Modern Work solutions focus on how people work, collaborate, and stay productive, wherever they are. This includes:
- Microsoft 365 applications such as Exchange, SharePoint and OneDrive
- Microsoft Teams, including meetings, chat, calling and collaboration
- Secure hybrid work environments using modern endpoint and identity management
- Employee experience tools such as Microsoft Viva
- Adoption and change management, ensuring technology is actually used and delivers value

How Microsoft validates Modern Work partners
Unlike legacy partner programs, Modern Work status is not awarded based on certifications alone. Microsoft assesses partners using a Partner Capability Score, measured across three key areas:
- Performance demonstrating growth in Modern Work customers
- Skilling maintaining Microsoft‑certified professionals at both intermediate and advanced levels
- Customer success showing successful deployments and ongoing usage of Microsoft 365 services
Partners must achieve a minimum score and continue to meet these benchmarks to retain the designation, ensuring it reflects current, ongoing capability rather than a one‑time achievement.
